Week 4 Lab Journal, Spring 2024: Wool

Summary

Week 4 saw our invitation of a guest, Alejandra Sanchez, a shepherdess and textile artist based out of Wisconsin who lead us in an exploration of traditional spinning, wool processing, and fiber arts, facilitated with Classics professor Jake Morton substituting for Austin Mason during his presentation at an off-campus Archaeology Conference. The lab saw us spinning, tapestry-weaving, and carding wool of various types, densities, and fibers.
